Handmade Brushes
I have recently begun making my own handmade brushes from foraged driftwood and beach plastic, plant fibres of maram grass and cordyline palm, pre-loved clothing, eco-dyed silk and old wool. I lovingly bind each brush together and it begins to take on n individual character with a story of its own to tell. Not one brush is same, as its handle could be made from a piece of old boat, or a very bent twig and its bristles from soft cotton or spiky grasses.
As an artist I am interested in creating my own visual language of texture and mark making and these brushes give me the freedom to explore drawing in a new and fresh way.
