Forest Fire

On 18 and 19 March 2018, a devastating wild fire fuelled by violent winds raced down the Bega Valley, crossing the river and destroying everything in its wake. Seventy homes were raised to the ground.and 2400 acres of native forest ravaged. Many of our friends lost everything they owned and the close community of Tathra was left traumatised. We were beyond lucky as our home survived but 80 acres of our bushland was burnt through. What remained was a strangely beautiful charcoal forest. Armed with my camera and a bundle of paper I walked through the stark trees and the inspiration for some fire related artwork started to emerge from the ashes.
